"FISCAL BEAURACRACY: THE DECLINE OF CANDOR IN THE REPUBLIC OF OLYMPA"

- A book owned by Ciarraí Teagwyn

Olympa is one of the Three Powers and the main economic power in the universe. It was originally formed by those who blamed duplicity and deception for the problems in the universe, and the Olympans are known to value honesty. However, the modern Olympa is far more centred around bureaucracy, and has been criticized as being too complex, inefficient, or too inflexible, including by those within the country, and by the Evon. It is usualy considered to be the weakest of the three powers, although much attention is still paid to the opinion of the government.

The country has an elected assembly, although most of the power is awarded to unelected state officials and fiscal advisors, while most of the nation's politics are heavially linked to economics, with great political importance placed on the role of the banks in the running of the republic, and on the stock exchange, where securities are traded. The governemnt is a complex bueracracy, with over 200 governmenty departments, commitees and offices, and most state officials are unelected, instead appointed based on thier skills in a particular area.

Traditionally, the nation are fierce rivals with Helltuna, however recently the nation's move towards a more fiscal focus has put pressure in traditionalists in the nation to work with their former rivals. In the War, the nation fought with the Evon, although relations between the two countries are strained, with the Evon seeing the republic as having become corrupt, and with many Olympan traditionalists accusing the Evon of having watered down the communist elements of their philosophy in favour of the pursuit of knoledge. However, the two nations remain allied.
